We have the pleasure to welcome you to the 19^th ISNS Annual global conference. The conference will take place in collaboration with The American College of Greece at the Alba Business Graduate School between 8-12 June 2022.

The 4-day conference program shall include appr. 50 presentations of scheduled panels, which will be conducted by acknowledged members of the Society. Their subjects will be mainly based on the Neoplatonic philosophy and its representatives.

Exantas Greece will provide the Conference Secretariat & Organizing Bureau services.

Welcome to the 2022 annual conference of the International Society for Neoplatonic Studies. The third time is the charm. After having to postpone the conference in 2020 and presenting the conference online in 2021, we are at last able to meet in person in Athens in 2022.
We will hold our nineteenth annual conference June 8-11 (with an excursion in Athens on June 12) and will meet at the ALBA Graduate Business School of the American College of Greece. We are a smaller group this year. There are 56 presentations planned as well as a short musical interlude during lunch on Friday. It’s a number that will emphasize our camaraderie as well as highlight our research. With papers on all periods of Neoplatonic studies, it promises to be a learned and rewarding conference.
The ISNS together with the local committee in Athens (Ioanna Patsioti and Giannis Stamatellos) and our partners at Exantas Greece (Spyridoula Asonitou and Alexandros Skordaras) have worked together to provide a pleasant experience for all. The program sessions will take place at the following ALBA classrooms,

• Auditorium, Ground Floor (All 4 days; Wednesday 8^th – Saturday 11^th)
• Classroom 208, 2^nd Floor (Only on Thursday 9^th & Friday 10^th)

During the 4-day event, coffee breaks and lunch, for those who have selected it as an option, will be served at the Ground floor Patio area, next to the Auditorium.

The Official Banquet of the 19^th Annual Conference of ISNS will take place in a well-known Athenian restaurant, Strofi, hosted in a mid-war building and located in the Makriyianni historical district in the center of Athens and close to the Acropolis rock. We will have the opportunity to enjoy our dinner with Greek cuisine choices at the restaurant’s terrace, which offers an unforgettable view of the Parthenon.

Menu will include assorted appetizers (typical Greek small plates served in the middle of the table) for starters, pork tenderloins with a sauce of sun-dried tomatoes, potatoes of oven and grilled vegetables as main dish and a variety of Greek pastries for dessert. It will be accompanied by white or red wine and mineral water.

We have scheduled a special Sunday morning event, which includes visits in three very popular archaeological sites in Athens. The itinerary follows the paths of Plato, Aristotle and the Neoplatonics.

Our meeting point will be close to the Conference venue and communicated to you during the days of the event.

Plato’s Academy

We will begin our excursion visiting the Plato’s Academy area and be guided among the remains of one of the most popular and prestigious philosophical schools in the Hellenistic period.

Next stop will be Aristotle’s Lyceum, downtown Athens. The Lyceum was recently uncovered and since 2009 is open to the public.

Ancient Agora

Our last stop will be the Ancient Agora in the historic district of Plaka at the foothills of the Acropolis. We have requested and expect to receive special permission to the “Omega house” and Neoplatonic installations at the south-end of the Agora, which are not regularly accessible to the visitors.

The excursion will be conducted by a local licensed guide.

Tour bus will be sanitized and the driver will keep all safety measures and protocols.

Entrance tickets and water are included in the excursion fee.

At the end of the tour, we will have the option to enjoy lunch in a typical restaurant in Monastiraki area close to the Agora and before leaving to our hotels.

Cancellation policy

Notification of cancellation must be sent by e-mail to [email protected] . The notification must include all relevant information regarding the bank account to which a possible refund may be remitted.
If the written notification of cancellation is received before June 1^st, 2022, a 100% refund will take place. No refunds will be made for cancellations received after this date.

Refund requests will be processed within two weeks after the end of the Conference. Bank charges will be deducted. Refunds will be credited only to the person/entity, who/which paid the original registration.

In case of cancellation of the Conference due to Exantas Greece or ISNS’s fault, then the fee is returned to the participant and any bank refund costs are borne by Exantas Greece in the same way as the payment of the event was made.

In case the Conference is not held due to force majeure, which will result in its forced postponement, then the Conference is postponed to be scheduled at a later stage from the originally scheduled date of the seminar, without any other claim from the participant.

Conference participation is valid for each participant, as long as the registration fee has been fully paid.
